The Addicks return to Sky Bet League One action for the first time in a fortnight on Saturday when they take on Carlisle United at Brunton Park (KO 3pm GMT).

Michael Appleton’s make the mammoth trip to Cumbria on the back of a 3-0 victory against Sutton United in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday. Corey Blackett-Taylor, Conor McGrandles and substitute Alfie May were all on the scoresheet as Charlton progressed to the knockout stages in style.

TEAM NEWS

Michael Appleton confirmed that James Abankwah (Ireland U21s), Karoy Anderson (Jamaica), Michael Hector (Jamaica), Ashley Maynard-Brewer (Australia) and Terell Thomas (St Lucia) have all returned from international duty unscathed, although Harry Isted (knee) has suffered a setback in his recovery.

Terry Taylor (ankle), Panutche Camará (hamstring) and Chuks Aneke (hamstring) remain sidelined for Charlton.

Owen Moxon (dead legs) and Sean Maguire (illness) are both expected to return for the hosts, while Josh Emmanuel could be line for his Blues debut having having joined the club on a deal until the end of the season on Thursday.

The hosts are set to be without Jökull Andrésson (shoulder), Jack Ellis (groin), Paul Huntington (calf), Taylor Charters (hamstring), Callum Guy (knee), Joshua Kayode (shoulder) and Joe Garner, who is suspended having accumulated five yellow cards.

THE OPPOSITION

Carlisle currently sit 22nd in the Sky Bet League One table, three points adrift of safety albeit having played one game less than 20th-placed Exeter City.

Paul Simpson's side ended a three-game losing run in midweek with a 2-0 win at home to Harrogate Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

In their last league outing, the Cumbrians suffered a 1-0 defeat against 10-man Bristol Rovers at Brunton Park courtesy of an own goal from former Addick Sam Lavelle.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Charlton and Carlisle have locked horns on 39 previous occasions with the Addicks winning 19, the Cumbrians eight and the remaining 12 clashes resulting in draws.

The last meeting between the two teams came at Brunton Park in April 2012, when Bradley Wright-Phillips fired Charlton to a 1-0 triumph that sealed promotion back to the Championship.

MATCH OFFICIALS

Leigh Doughty will oversee proceedings on Saturday. The official has taken charge of 12 fixtures so far this season, brandishing 52 yellow cards and two red cards.

Doughty will be assisted by Paul Hodskinson and Matthew Smith, while Paul Marsden has been appointed as the Fourth Official.

COLOURS

The Addicks will be sporting their black away kit in Cumbria.

Tickets for Saturday's trip to Carlisle are now off sale, with 944 Addicks Brunton Park-bound.

The remaining 114 tickets will be available to purchase from the ground on matchday (cash and card), but will be subject to a £3 price increase. Carlisle's Ticket Office will be open from 1.30pm.
