Charlton Women host Leicester City at The Valley for The Play-Off, presented by Mercedes-Benz. This huge one-off match on Saturday (KO 12:30pm BST) decides who gets the final spot in the 2026/27 WSL season.
Charlton Athletic
After the final game of the season against Birmingham, Charlton finished the season third in the WSL2 table and now face this play-off match to gain promotion to the WSL.
One player we know will not take part in this match is Charlotte Newsham. Sadly, Newsham sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and also damaged her lateral collateral ligament (LCL), posterolateral corner and hamstring tendon.
Leicester City
Leicester City are in the play-off match after finishing bottom of the WSL. They finished eight points off Liverpool, whom we played earlier this season in the FA Cup.
Leicester are playing to stay in the WSL after winning promotion from WSL2 in the 2020/21 season.
Head-to-Head
Charlton and Leicester last met in the 2020/21 season, when Leicester were in WSL2. The Addicks lost both times that season, 2-0 at home before 4-0 away. Overall, we have played Leicester six times, with two wins, two draws and two losses.
