MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton v Lewes

Charlton Women celebrate

The Addicks will hope to continue a confident start to 2024 as they host Lewes at The Oakwood on Sunday, with kick off at 2pm (GMT).

Charlton

Karen Hills’ side head into match week fifteen on top of the Championship table, following last weekend’s crucial victory over south-London rivals Crystal Palace. Freda Ayisi’s 63rd-minute strike proved to be the difference between the Addicks and the Eagles, with Charlton successfully pulling off a league double over their neighbours as a result.

Charlton will be hoping that this month mirrors the success of January, in which the Addicks registered three wins out of four and scored nine goals across all competitions. Before attention turns to Spurs in the FA Cup next weekend, Karen Hills and the squad will be looking to put some distance between themselves and 2nd-place Sunderland, with just one point separating the two sides.

Freya Godfrey may miss the game after being stretchered off in last weekend's 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Lewes

11th-place Lewes were on track for their first three points of the year against Reading last weekend, before a quick-fire double from the Royals moments before the final whistle saw points shared at The Dripping Pan. With just two points registered in January, Scott Booth’s side will certainly be on the hunt for results as the year continues.

The Rooks were one of the busier teams in the January transfer window, with striker Chelsea Ferguson and New Zealand forward Jacqui Hand among new signings for the East Sussex club, as well as former Addicks Hannah Godfrey and Lois Roche.

Head-to-head

The Addicks visit to The Dripping Pan in November left them on the right side of a 1-0 score line, after Kayleigh Green’s 91st-minute penalty sealed the deal for Charlton.

On their most recent run out at The Oakwood, Lewes walked away empty-handed after Freda Ayisi’s second-half goal left The Addicks holding all three points.
