MATCH PREVIEW | Watford v Charlton

'

The Addicks return to Barclays Women’s Championship action on Sunday following a three-week break, travelling to Grosvenor Vale to face Watford (KO 2pm GMT).

Charlton

With a handful of games remaining across the season, just five points separate the top five teams in the Championship as the title race intensifies. Charlton, one point behind leaders Sunderland, have a game in hand following the postponement of their clash with Reading earlier this month.

Karen Hills’ side, who are currently enjoying a 12-match unbeaten league run, last ran out against Tottenham Hotspur in the Adobe Women's FA Cup fifth round last month. Substitute and former Addick Kit Graham’s second-half goal proved to be the decider as Charlton bowed out of the competition against the Women's Super League side.

Watford

Currently occupying 11th, the Golden Girls are one point behind London City Lionesses who sit in the spot above the drop zone, although Watford do boast a game in hand.

The Hertfordshire side come into Sunday's clash on the back of two wins on the bounce, beating both Durham and Birmingham City 2-0.

Head-to-head

The sides met at The Valley back in September, when the Addicks were condemned to defeat. Sophie McLean bagged a first-half brace and Carly Johns also converted to give the visitors a 3-0 lead at the break and despite second-half strikes from Carla Humphrey and Angela Addison, Watford held on to claim maximum points.
