Nathan Jones delighted with win over Oxford

Nathan Jones celebrates

Nathan Jones was delighted with his side following a 1-0 win over Oxford United at The Valley.

Charlie Kelman’s strike made all the difference for the Addicks and helped them seal all three points as they got back to winning ways in the Sky Bet Championship.

Speaking after the game, Jones said: "We were very professional, and we displayed top-end quality today."

The Addicks kept their seventh clean sheet of the campaign, which the gaffer was extremely pleased with. "We've been built on clean sheets, solidity and doing the basics very well, and we had to get back to that. We did that last week as well.

"We showed real character last week and I was proud of last week’s performance. We needed to back that up today and we did, and there was a lot of key ingredients in what we did today.

"We're keeping one in three clean sheets on average, and that's with three of our best defenders out injured. It shows the structure we have, and we have a real good group.

"We had gamechangers that came on and affected the game - we played front -ooted, we kept a clean sheet, and the crowd were magnificent.

"I'm proud of my relationship with the fans. We've asked them to be patient and stay with us and they have. We thank the fans for the trust they have with us, and I wish them all a Merry Christmas!"

The returning Kelman marked his return to the side with a goal after combining with fellow substitute Tyreece Campbell.

“Charlie's a wonderful finisher," he added, "And credit to Tyreece Campbell, we were in the ascendency when he came on, we penned Oxford in, and we needed that bit of quality and we've missed that."

Keenan Gough was introduced to the frame late on to make his Sky Bet Championship debut after Kayne Ramsay was forced off through injury.

Jones said: "We really like him, he's a diligent kid. We trust him, it was a big test for him today and I had the utmost faith in him.
