The club’s new big screen and digiboards will be fully operational for the Addicks’ home game against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, October 18th.
The giant rectangular screen will stretch from the Alan Curbishley Stand to the Jimmy Seed Stand, while new LED digiboards will be installed on all four sides of the pitch, across the West Stand mid-tier and around the control tower in the south-west corner.
Charlton’s Chief Financial and Operations Officer Ed Warrick said: "The installation of the big screen and digiboards marks the culmination of a summer of hard work to improve The Valley, despite a shortened off-season following our on-pitch success. These upgrades reflect our commitment to driving elite standards at the club and enhancing the matchday experience for our supporters.
"While we had hoped to have the big screen ready for Saturday’s fixture against Blackburn Rovers, we’re excited to see it in action in October."
The big screen will make its debut at Charlton Athletic Women’s home game against Sheffield United on Sunday, October 12th, ahead of the full rollout of the club’s new digital screens for the men’s first-team's fixture against Sheffield Wednesday.
Claire Fitzgerald-Firth, Head of Engagement and Client Services at ADI, commented: "The new stadium upgrades should provide a massive uplift to the matchday experience at The Valley and will be one of the largest digital platforms in UK football. It’s been a pleasure to work with the club this year, and we’re excited to see the plans coming to fruition in the coming weeks. The new screen is nearly twice the size and width of the previous one, meaning it can add far more value than just showing a live match feed.
"We’re really excited to be on this journey with Charlton and helping to ensure the rejuvenation of the stadium reflects the continued success of the team on the pitch."
Other changes improvements made since the end of last season include:
- New floodlights
- Handrails in the Alan Curbishley Stand
- Fresh new look in the stadium
- New signage on the Jimmy Seed Stand
- Increased the size of the Fan Zone
