Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the appointment of Richard Law as a Non-Executive Director.
Law brings a wealth of experience in the sports industry, most notably spending 12 years at Arsenal. From 2005 to 2009, Law organised the club’s scouting efforts in the Americas and later was responsible for the club’s player operations from the academy to the first team.
Chairman Gavin Carter said: "I’m delighted to welcome Richard to the Board. Ever since stepping into the role of Chairman, I’ve leaned on industry experts to help guide me, and Richard has been one of those voices.
"He brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of what elite looks like, and I’m very pleased we’ve been able to attract him to the club in this capacity. I know he will provide valuable insight as we continue to build and take the next step in our progression.
"Richard’s experience at Arsenal is exactly the kind of experience and insight we can lean upon around squad construction and elite standards, which will be incredibly valuable to us."
Law added: "Charlton Athletic is a club with a proud history and an exciting future. The progress made in recent seasons has been clear to see, both on and off the pitch, and I’m looking forward to supporting the Board and the wider team as the club continues to build. I’m excited to play a role in helping drive the next phase of growth and success."
Prior to his time at Arsenal, Law served as President and CEO of Panamerican Sports Teams. Based in São Paulo, Brazil, he oversaw the commercial and football operations for Brazilian giants SC Corinthians Paulista and E.C. Cruzeiro.
Law began his professional sports career at Major League Soccer’s office, where he was Vice President of Consumer Products, responsible for league and club licensing, as well as the organisation’s early e-commerce operations.
Before working with global football clubs, Law spent eight years with Spalding Sports Worldwide from 1990 to 1998, serving as Managing Director of Spalding’s operations in both Madrid and Mexico City.
