TEAM NEWS | Terell Thomas set for senior Charlton debut

Terell Thomas will make his senior Charlton debut in this evening’s Papa John’s Trophy game at Colchester United.

The Charlton academy graduate returned to The Valley in the summer, five years after his departure in 2017.

The Addicks will be looking to make it two wins from two in the competition and field a side that combines youth and experience.

Ben Garner has made 10 changes from the team that drew with Oxford United at the weekend, with Jack Payne the one remaining player from the lineup that begun Saturday's game.

If lining up in a 4-3-3 formation, it will mean a back four of Sean Clare - returning from illness, Lucas Ness, Thomas and Richard Chin in front of Nathan Harness in the Charlton goal.

Albie Morgan, Jake Forster-Caskey and Conor McGrandles are expected to make up a three-man midfield behind Corey Blackett-Taylor, Payne and Diallang Jaiyesimi.

Ahmed Kone, Charles Clayden, Sam Lavelle, Euan Williams, Tyreece Campbell, Dan Kanu and Patrick Casey make up the substitutes bench. It is a first appearance in a matchday squad for U18s striker Casey.

Charlton: Harness; Clare, Ness, Thomas, Chin; Morgan, Forster-Caskey, McGrandles; Blackett-Taylor, Payne (c), Jaiyesimi

Substitutes: Kone, Clayden, Lavelle, Williams, Campbell, Kanu, Casey
