Jason Pearce’s side picked up a 3-2 win on the road against Crewe Alexandra in the U18s Professional Development League on Saturday.
Raynon Richman was on the scoresheet in the first 45 for the young Addicks, before Phoenix Valentine and Ellis McMillan both netted in the second period.
Richman fired Pearce’s side in front with a sensational solo effort, picking up the ball out wide from Tate Elliott. The winger drove goalwards, taking it past a number of opposition defenders before finding the back of the net with a superb strike.
The hosts drew level through Isaac Irwin ahead of the hour mark after a bundle in the box was turned in by the defender.
A neat move from the young Addicks saw Valentine restore his side's advantage with 20 minutes left on the clock. The ball was knocked into the path of the full-back, who fired in on the turn with a well-placed strike.
On 83 minutes, Crewe Alexandra restored parity in similar fashion as an initial shot was forced into the path of Ffranc Evans, who slotted in from close range.
Pearce's side were given a golden opportunity to claim all three points in the third minute of stoppage time when McMillan was able to spin his man in the box and win a penalty. The forward dusted himself off and stepped up from 12 yards, slotting into the bottom corner to secure a dramatic win.
The U18s return to Sparrows Lane on Saturday to host Colchester United (KO 11am BST).
