U21 REPORT | Charlton 2 Millwall 0

'

Chris Lock’s side made it two wins in two games as his side beat Millwall 2-0 at Sparrows Lane on Friday afternoon.

The young Addicks started brightly in the opening stages of the contest and had multiple chances to break the deadlock before the Trialist opened the scoring for Charlton on 13 minutes with an excellent finish that went beyond Ronnie Sandford in the Millwall goal.

Lock’s team pushed to extend their lead as Mason Hunter burst down the right-hand side. He did well to deliver a searching crossfield pass to Kaheim Dixon, whose effort sailed over the bar.

The young Addicks' sustained pressure resulted in a few first-half bookings for the away side, as Charlton looked to add more goals to their tally before the break. Ty Ewens-Findlay had the opportunity to get himself on the scoresheet from a free-kick, but his curling effort went just wide of the post.

Charlton had to weather the Millwall storm in the second half, as the visitors grew into the game. Their patience paid off as Phoenix Valentine made it 2-0 with 15 minutes left to play. The defender's excellent curling strike found the bottom corner to seal all three points for the young Addicks.

The U21s are next in action on Tuesday when they host Bristol City at Sparrows Lane (KO 1.30pm GMT).
