U21 REPORT | Watford 2 Charlton 0

'

Charlton's U21s fell to a 2-0 defeat at Watford on Tuesday afternoon.

First-team duo Conor McGrandles and Terry Taylor stepped up their returns to fitness by playing 45 minutes and 60 minutes respectively, while new signing Lewis Ward was also in the starting XI at a wet and windy London Colney.

Charlie Davis gave the Hornets the lead on the stroke of half-time, curling in a free-kick that evaded everyone and found the back of the net.

Collins doubled the hosts' advantage moments before the hour-mark, finishing beyond Ward after being picked out by Zavier Massiah-Edwards.

The young Addicks are next in action on Saturday, January 27th, travelling to Bournemouth in the Premier League Cup (KO 1pm).
