Charlton U21s' three-game winning run came to an end with a 3-2 defeat at Wigan Athletic on Tuesday afternoon.
Adam Moseley gave the Latics the lead at Christopher Park on 17 minutes and the hosts doubled their advantage in fortuitous fashion in the second minute of stoppage time. Tate Elliott rose highest to clear his lines but inadvertently guided the ball beyond George Hardy.
Wigan's two-goal cushion didn't last long as Sam Washington-Amoah pulled a goal back for the young Addicks on the stroke of half-time.
The Latics regained their two-goal lead on 68 minutes through Cole Simms.
Chris Lock's side responded quickly once again, this time through Kaheim Dixon who converted Josh Hebert's cross at the far post, but Wigan held firm in the closing stages to claim all three points.
The U21s are next in action on Friday when they take on Colchester United at The Valley (KO 1pm BST).
