PRE MATCH | Robinson reveals intended starting XI for final-day clash

George Jones reports

Karl Robinson has revealed who he intends to start with when Charlton take on Swindon Town at The Valley on Sunday afternoon (12pm).

The Addicks will be hoping to record a fourth victory in five matches, and a third in a row, while the Robins will look to end the season with three points, having had their relegation confirmed last weekend.

And, speaking to the media at Sparrows Lane on Friday morning, the Manager explained who he is set to select to start the match.

He said: “Dec will be in goal. Sols will be at right-back, Patrick Bauer, Jason Pearce and Jay Dasilva will also be in the back four.

“Jacko, Andrew Crofts, Jake Forster-Caskey and then Nathan Byrne, Josh Magennis and Ricky Holmes. It’s a strong team.

“Jacko is leading the team out, Sols is fit, Ezri is going to be rested and Nathan gets to play in that midfield position that he enjoys so much; he’s been outstanding in our last two games.

“Josh needs to get into double figures for goals and Ricky needs to add to his assists and goals. It’s a strong side and it gives people an indication of what we are expecting from the game on Sunday.”

On his decision to reveal his side so early, the Manager said: “Sometimes we can keep things so secretive, but for the right reasons. People may be expecting some young players or a strong team and people buy tickets even though they don’t know.

“I’ve named a team early a few times before and from that I think you can see that I want to win the game. I want to put a strong-minded side out and we want the three points.

“Our U23s have got a massive semi-final a week on Monday – they’ve got a game arranged for Tuesday to help prepare for that - so there have been a lot of things on my mind when it came to picking Sunday’s team.”
