Karl Robinson on Charlton fans, playing at The Valley, that winning feeling and the League One table

Karl Robinson spoke to the press for more than 10 minutes after yesterday’s 2-1 win at home to Southend United

In the press conference he explained why Charlton’s opener was the “perfect coach’s goal” and praised Northern Ireland international Josh Magennis.

You can watch his full interview here and below are some of the other points he touched on:

On the Charlton fans

“I’m really pleased for the players and I’m really pleased for the fans. I’m getting a bit of a broken record but that’s who we do it for, that’s who we play for. We want to make them proud. You can hear the noise levels in here. If you were here last season, you are seeing a different mentality around the place.”

On playing at The Valley

“This place is special, it really is. This is what I used to hate coming here to, because you knew they were passionate and the desire they have for their team is unquestionable. This is what The Valley should be, this is what it was built for and this is the passion that we all have for the club.”

On winning

“I just love winning, I love winning, I just love winning. I can’t comprehend any other, sorry if that’s ignorant or arrogant. I’m scared of losing, maybe. I get nervous because I’m scared of losing. I hate it. I can’t cope with it. I just want to win, I just want to win.”

On Charlton moving to second in the table

“No (I don’t look at the table). We’ve got 15 points, that’s all I know. I don’t know what everyone is doing around us, all we can worry about is ourselves and that’s got to be our objective. Not a bad start though, six games, 15 points.”
