DONE DEAL | Stephy Mavididi rejoins Charlton on loan from Premier League club Arsenal

Charlton Athletic are delighted to confirm the loan signing of Stephy Mavididi from Arsenal.

The England youth international enjoyed a temporary stint at The Valley at the beginning of 2017, where he made five appearances and caught the eye with his exciting dribbling skills.

He’ll now re-join Karl Robinson’s squad until the end of the season and the Manager is delighted that the versatile attacker - who can play up front, as a ‘number 10’ and out wide - will be returning to SE7.

Robinson said: “I am really looking forward to working with Stephy again. He is such a talented player and we only got to see a glimpse of what he could do last time he was here.

“I’ve watched him a lot since he’s come back from injury and he is a phenomenal talent. I don’t think it is any secret that we wanted to bring him in over the summer

“The fans will have seen how quick, powerful and skilful he is from his first spell with us. He is a Championship quality player already and he comes to Charlton now with a point to prove.”

Mavididi, 19, spent the first half of 2017/18 on loan at Championship club Preston North End, featuring 11 times.

His Valley return makes him the second Premier League youngster to enjoy a second loan spell in as many seasons with the Addicks, joining Jay Dasilva, and he cannot wait to get started.

He said: “I’m looking forward to coming back and enjoying my football again. I want to pick up where I left off at Charlton and help the club to achieve promotion.

“I really enjoyed my time here last season and, for any young player moving club, it is always easier when you go somewhere that you know people and I hope that I can settle back in straight away.”

Mavididi's first interview will be available to view on Valley Pass
