VALLEY REVIEW | Upbeats are the stars of the show in Saturday's programme

The Charlton Upbeats are the stars of the show in tomorrow’s official matchday programme.

With the club celebrating 10 years of the much-loved Upbeats at The Valley on Saturday, Billy Birchmore and Jack Lyons, two members of the team, star on the front cover of Valley Review.

The pair, both top swimmers – Billy an 11-time gold medallist - went head-to-head with first-teamers Josh Magennis and Jake Forster-Caskey in the pool last week and we hear all about how the lads got on.

Meanwhile, Ben Reeves is the main interview as he reveals all in a six-page feature. The midfielder suffered a stop/start beginning to his Valley career, but is hitting form just at the right time, becoming a key part of Lee Bowyer team’s quest for the play-offs.

He discusses how consistency is key to his success, his life as a youngster at Southampton and why he and his teammates remain confident, despite the midweek disappointment at AFC Wimbledon.

Forster-Caskey also reflects on Tuesday night’s defeat and looks ahead to the clash against the Iron, while Bowyer pens his latest notes ahead of the play-off six-pointer.

The latest academy action is rounded up with news of victories for both our U18s and U23s, while the look back at the best Valley moments over the last 25 years moves on to the day that Charlton were crowned Division One champions in 2000.
