Bowyer on win against Luton, two-goal Taylor and in-form Vetokele

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer spoke to the press after Charlton's 3-1 at home to Luton Town today.

Lyle Taylor scored twice and Igor Vetokele also netted as the Addicks swept aside top-of-the-table Luton.

Bowyer's full press conference will be on Valley Pass shortly.

On today’s win…

"It was very good. I think from start to finish it was good. Obviously we went in at half-time one down. I thought it was a good first 45 minutes from us. We created chances just like them, for me it was just two good teams hitting each other on the break. It was quite an open game, a good football match to watch as a neutral. I said to them at half-time I thought we were the better side going in. I said to them: ‘Keep doing what you are doing, believe in what you are doing, you will create more chances’. I think defensively we had to tighten up because at the time they were hitting us on the break. We obviously eradicated that second half, they couldn’t get out and we pinned them in. I thought we thoroughly deserved the game."

On the quality of Luton…

"Luton will go up. They are a very, very, very good side. They’ve got good players, they’re solid, they have energy, they move the ball well. We pressed really, really high and fast and they just popped it round us at times. Today was two good sides, good, hard-working side. They’ve got everything, they deserve to go up because from what I’ve just witnessed today they are very good."

On two-goal hero Lyle Taylor…

"I think his all-around play has improved, he’s fitter, quicker, stronger, his awareness is better, his finishing hasn’t changed much, he’s always been a good finisher, that’s why we bought him here. I think as a package as a striker he’s improved."

On Igor Vetokele who scored one and set-up another…

"I think what you are seeing is Igor getting fitter. Tuesday was the best that Igor had played for me and today he’s just topped it. He’s getting fitter. You’ve got to remember he didn’t really play much the first half of the season, then he dislocated his shoulder and then he got thrown in the deep end because Lyle was out and obviously Karlan had gone. It was unfair to judge him. I’m glad he is fit now and looking like the player that I’ve not really seen."
