PRE-SEASON PREVIEW | Colchester United v Charlton

Charlton face the penultimate game of their pre-season campaign with a trip to Colchester United on Tuesday evening (7:30pm).

The trip to Essex is the first match of a week which also sees the Addicks host Aston Villa at the Valley for Chris Solly's Testimonial match and Lee Bowyer's men will be hoping to improve on Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Gillingham when they make the journey to the JobServe Community Stadium.

Bowyer opted for a more structured line-up for the match against the Gills, and he is expected to play those who didn’t feature at the weekend including Jake Forster-Caskey, Ben Purrington and Chris Solly as he assesses his team for the oncoming season.

Meanwhile, trialist Callum Harriott is likely to be involved against the side he joined on loan while with Charlton and there could be a first appearance for latest summer signing Deji Oshilaja.

However, Lewis Page and Chuks Aneke are both likely to be missing after the pair picked up injuries at the Priestfield.

Colchester have enjoyed a relatively strong pre-season, beating non-League opposition without conceding a single goal in their first four games. However, the U’s last match, which saw them face Ipswich Town, resulted in a heavy 5-0 defeat on Saturday.

Tickets for the friendly are able to be purchased online from the clubs website and supporters can go there by using this link. They will also be available from the ground on the evening at the below prices.
