Bowyer: "We’ve got to get our recovery right between now and Saturday"

Lee Bowyer reflected on a “frustrating night” at The Valley as the Addicks lost 1-0 to Milton Keynes Dons.

The Charlton Manager said his side have to focus on recovery as they prepare for Saturday’s trip to Shrewsbury.

He said: “I think they looked sharper than us, that is something we’ll have to discuss and I’ve just discussed that in there, they played Sunday and we played Saturday, so that makes absolutely no sense to me.

“It was disappointing because we could have gone top two and being at home everyone would have expected us to win tonight but these aren’t a bad side. They take risks at times but if they beat the press, they have got people that can hurt you.”

Bowyer added it was good to have Akin Famewo back but said Andrew Shinnie had a tight thigh which is why he was substituted at half-time.

Charlton remain fourth in the table and travel to Shrewsbury on Saturday.

He said: “We’ve got to get our recovery right between now and Saturday. We’ll get back on the road and try and get three points up there.”

Bowyer's press conference can be watched below by Valley Pass subscribers and those that purchased the live video pass for Wednesday's game against Milton Keynes Dons.
