First-team players and Upbeats join forces to launch month of fundraising

The first team have joined forces with the Charlton Upbeats to launch the start of Upbeats month with a goal celebration competition.

The Upbeats filmed their own goal celebrations at home and those celebrations have been replicated by a Charlton first team player. Supporters can now select the winning celebration which will be used by the first team after an Addicks’ goal this season.

The idea was the brainchild of Ryan Inniss, who had a Zoom call with the Upbeats earlier this season and was saddened to hear how difficult it has been for the team without seeing each other.

The competition gives the Upbeats the opportunity to show off their creativity and builds awareness for the team around Upbeats month, which sees Charlton Athletic Community Trust raising money for the Upbeats programme with a variety of activities including the traditional Upbeats walk. Inniss was joined by Player Liaison Officer Tracey Leaburn to evaluate the players’ dances and the pair selected a final three for the Charlton supporters to vote on, with one of the dances to be used by the first team during a game.
