Young Greenwich Broaden their Horizons In the City

Young Greenwich is the name for youth services delivered by Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) on behalf of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The youth service members spent Wednesday 2nd August 2017 exploring some of the attractions the city had to offer.

These included:

The London Eye 4D Experience

Using specially designed glasses, members had the fantastic opportunity to watch the first live action 4D film produced in the UK. Bringing the visuals to life, the film was a montage of 3D aerial photography over London and included real-feel physical effects to add to the experience.

The London Dungeon

Their action-packed time at the Dungeon consisted of 19 interactive shows with special effects and 2 underground rides. The young people were able to learn about the history of Great Britain during their experience.

The London Eye

The young people ended their day looking at the phenomenal scenery. The London Eye which captured some of the most iconic monuments including St Paul’s Cathedral, The Houses of Parliament and The Shard.

Their day trip to London was one of a series events offered by Young Greenwich for local young people this summer. Other trips have included:

  • The Monopoly Challenge, encouraging young people to explore their surroundings
  • Chatham Ski Centre, to try an exciting new health activity
  • Trip to Charlton lido, to encourage them to use local leisure facilities

"Young Greenwich offers young people the opportunity to learn new skills, participate in new activities as well as a safe space to hang out.

Our members enjoy a wide range of offsite trips and residential experiences. We would really like more young people to come along and tell us what they would like to do and we will do our best to include it in our programme."

Jeannette Harrison, Head of Youth Service

There are further trips planned including to Chessington World of Adventures, Tower Bridge and Go-karting planned in the action packed summer.
