Mason Hunter joined the Charlton academy at U13 level and has developed a reputation as a commanding centre-back.

The defender was part of the U18s squad which won the Professional Development League Two - South title in 2022/23. 

The following season, Hunter secured himself as an important member of the first XI, captaining the side on occasions during another campaign in which the U18s lifted the PDL2 - South title. The defender also scored against Barnsley in the PDL2 play-off semi-final.

Hunter was subsequently rewarded with his first professional contract in May 2024.
