After an impressive debut season in SE7, Charlotte Newsham signed a new one-year contract with an option of an additional year ahead of the 2025/26 WSL2 campaign.
The 25-year-old was a regular at right wing-back, making 23 appearances for the Addicks across all competitions after arriving from Sheffield United last summer.
Confident when asked to defend and a threat going forward, Newsham contributed to Charlton’s eight clean sheets and scored three times in all competitions.
Her performances in Charlton colours were rewarded with international recognition, ending the season with an appearance for Scotland’s U23s before being promoted to the senior squad for a Nations League fixture against the Netherlands.
An unused substitute against the Dutch, winning her first senior cap will surely provide extra motivation for the defender going into the 2025/26 season as she looks to replicate the positive impact she made during her first campaign as an Addick.
Newsham’s off-the-pitch impact was also recognised when she was named Charlton’s PFA Community Champion, recognising her engagement with Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s award-winning programmes throughout the season.
