Player Biography

Karen Hills added the experienced and versatile Ellie Mason to her Charlton squad ahead of the 2025/26 WSL2 season following her departure from Birmingham City.

Northern Ireland international Mason, who has signed a one-year contract with the option of an additional year, joins the Addicks after helping the Blues finish second in the Women’s Championship last season.

Her contributions were recognised when she was awarded both the Women’s Championship Player of the Month and Goal of the Month, an acrobatic half-volley against Bristol City, for January.

It was from full-back that she won those awards, but the 29-year-old is equally comfortable playing at centre-back and in midfield.

Mason has also played further forward in a career that has seen her gain a wealth of Women’s Championship, playing for London City Lionesses and Lewes before moving to Birmingham City, and also spent a season in the WSL with Yeovil Town.

Her performances for Lewes saw her win the first of her 13 Northern Ireland caps in 2022, switching allegiance after playing two friendlies for Gibraltar, eligible for both through her family background.

A Chelsea academy graduate, who spent time in her early career at Watford and Millwall Lionesses, Mason’s proven quality at second tier level in several positions makes her an excellent addition to Hills’ side.
