Welsh international Mary McAteer joined the Addicks on a two-year deal ahead of the 2025/26 WSL2 season following her departure from Sunderland.
McAteer arrives at The Valley having spent the summer with the Wales camp as a training player for their historic UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 campaign - her nation’s first appearance at a major international tournament.
The 21-year-old, who helped Wales book their trip to Switzerland with six appearances during qualifying including a goal in a 2-0 win over Kosovo, joins the Addicks after two seasons at Sunderland, during which she scored ten goals in 55 games across all competitions.
McAteer began her career at Aston Villa after graduating from the club’s academy, making her senior debut as a 17-year-old in a Women’s League Cup fixture against Sheffield United in November 2021.
Her move to Sunderland came after she scored three times in 11 Women’s Championship games for Coventry United, while her performances for the Mackens led to her winning her first Wales cap in October 2023.
Able to play out wide or in a more central attacking position, McAteer gives Karen Hills an exciting forward threat.
