James Bree joined the Addicks on deadline day in September 2025, arriving on loan from fellow Sky Bet Championship side Southampton until January 2026.

The Wakefield-born defender began his career at Barnsley, where he made his professional debut aged just 16.

After joining Aston Villa in January 2017, he enjoyed loan spells at Ipswich Town and Luton Town, where he was signed permanently under Nathan Jones in September 2020.

Having impressed for the Hatters across three-and-a-half Sky Bet Championship campaigns, Bree earned a move to then Premier League side Southampton in January 2023.
