Charlton's U21s marked their final away fixture of 2024/25 with an emphatic 7-2 win against Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
There were five different goalscorers for Chris Lock’s side on the day, with Henry Rylah and Kaheim Dixon bagging braces and Ibrahim Fullah, Kai Enslin and Manu Wales also on target.
The young Addicks edged in front within 11 minutes as Dixon was brought down in the box. Rylah stepped up from 12 yards and coolly slotted home from the spot.
Dixon followed suit 10 minutes later, capitalising on a mistake at the back and wrapping his strike into the far corner, providing a two-goal cushion early on.
The hosts responded well to the setback, pulling a goal back five minutes later through a Trialist.
Charlton's two-goal lead was re-established ahead of the interval as Dixon bagged his brace in fine fashion. Fullah threaded the forward in on goal, allowing him to convert with a dinked finish over the Peterborough stopper.
Lock’s team continued their relentless display after the restart, finding their fourth in the 47th minute. A neat passage of play from the young Addicks saw the ball fall to Fullah in the box, who slotted in with a well-placed strike.
A period of end-to-end action then followed, seeing the home side add their second in the 72nd minute, with another Trialist finding the back of the net.
Fortunately for Charlton, their dominant display carried on as Enslin curled in a sublime free-kick from distance.
Rylah was next to net, securing his brace from the spot after Fullah was brought down in the box.
The scoring was rounded off in stoppage time through Wales, who topped off a superb display from Lock’s side with yet another fine finish, seeing his low driven strike sneak into the bottom corner.
The U21s conclude their campaign against Coventry City at The Valley on Monday afternoon (KO 2pm BST).
