Charlton’s U18s’ winning streak continued as they beat AFC Bournemouth 4-3 in a thrilling encounter on the south coast.

An own goal helped the young Addicks take the lead early on. Sam Washington-Amoah got himself on the scoresheet and was joined by captain Ellis McMillan, who netted twice to help the young Addicks seal all three points on the road.

Jason Pearce’s side started the game brightly and it took just two minutes for them to open the scoring.

McMillan’s corner was fired into the penalty area and was deflected in at the near post by a Cherries defender to give the young Addicks the lead.

Washington-Amoah doubled Charlton’s advantage moments later. Phoenix Valentine played a lovely through ball to the midfielder, who latched on to the ball and showed great composure, chipping it over Hayden McGhan.

The young Addicks extended their advantage shortly before the break as McMillan’s free-kick from the edge of the box sailed through a crowded area and found its way into the bottom corner.

Bournemouth pulled themselves back into contention midway through the second half, striking twice in quick succession. Eugene Nyarko and Ameer Ali both netted to bring the score back to 3-2.

McMillan grabbed his second goal of the game on the 70-minute mark, as Bradley Tagoe fed the ball through to McMillian who fired the ball past the keeper to make it 4-2.

The hosts grabbed another goal through Joe Spence to reduce the young Addicks’ two-goal cushion, but it would not be enough to prevent the visitors from heading home with all three points.
