Chris Lock’s U21s fell to defeat on the road against Sheffield United, facing a 3-1 loss at Bramall Lane on Friday evening.
Kai Enslin netted for the Addicks on the road, igniting hopes of a late turnaround which were halted late on.
An in-form Jevan Beattie opened the scoring for the Blades inside 15-minutes, slotting in from close range.
The hosts doubled their lead just moments after the restart at the interval, as Sam Aston’s free-kick was deflected into the back of the Charlton net, striking Enslin on its way in.
Enslin responded in fine fashion, netting directly from a corner shortly after, instilling belief in the young Addicks.
However, this was soon stunted as defender, Max Asanta-Boakye rose highest at a corner to head home the Blades’ third of the evening.
