Charlton’s U21s got back to winning ways on Tuesday evening, with a 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town U21s in the Premier League Cup at The Valley.

Three changes were made to the side that lost to Hanwell Town, as the young Addicks looked to return to winning ways after two successive defeats.

Charlton took an early lead, with Patrick Casey opening the scoring inside three minutes at The Valley. The forward swept the ball home after Kai Enslin picked him out with an excellent pass from the wing.

Lennon MacLorg made a flurry of excellent saves to prevent Ipswich from equalising in the first half.

Ipswich elevelled the scoring on 81 minutes as Josh Laqeretabua turned the ball into his own net.

Paris Lock restored Charlton’s lead in stoppage time, to put an extra three points on the board and maintain the young Addicks' flawless record in Group C of the Premier League Cup.

The young Addicks return to action on Tuesday, as they take on Cardiff City U21s at Princes Park (KO 2pm GMT)
