Charlton’s U21 were undone by a late goal against Reading in Professional Development League 2 South at Sparrows Lane on Monday afternoon.

The Addicks broke the deadlock on 32 minutes. Sahid Kamara jinked away from a couple of Royals challenges on the left flank before firing an effort at goal that was blocked. The loose ball was won by Mack Reilly and he smartly teed up Aaron Henry, who drilled home into the bottom corner.

Charlton held a 1-0 lead going into the break but the Royals drew level eight minutes after the restart.

Rashawn Scott latched onto a clever through ball from Claudio Osorio. He then cut inside and whipped an accurate strike into the bottom corner of the net.

The Addicks had the better of proceedings over the course of the 90 minutes but they were undone by a late Royals goal on 85 minutes, which saw the visitors take all three points.

Scott slammed the ball into the top corner of the net from close range, for his and Reading's second, after getting onto the end of a long pass from John Clarke.
