2021-Present: Life as a full-time professional outfit
The 2021/22 season saw the Addicks undergo their first season as a fully professional outfit.
The squad was spearheaded by former Charlton defender and FA Cup winner Karen Hills, whilst Riteesh Mishra, Laura Kaminski and Neil Moore completed the coaching staff.
The Addicks began their historic campaign with victory at The Oakwood, beating fellow Barclays Women’s Championship side Coventry United 3-1. Ella Rutherford earned the honours of scoring the first goal for the Addicks as a fully professional outfit.
Charlton finished the season in the top half of the table in fifth-place, a substantial improvement on the season before, and Hills’ side ended their campaign on a high as they hosted Durham at The Valley. 710 supporters were in attendance in SE7 as the Addicks came from behind to seal the 2-1 victory.
Emma Follis and Elise Hughes earned the joint honours of top goalscorers as they netted five times apiece. At the other end of the field, Scotland international Eartha Cumings was awarded Player of The Year, as voted by fans for her formidable campaign between the sticks recording nine clean sheets across the season. The squad produced another impressive statistic as they went 882 minutes without conceding across all competitions.
