Dykes on debut: "I'm absolutely buzzing"

Lyndon Dykes

Lyndon Dykes got a match-winning assist on his Charlton debut on Saturday afternoon, as he helped the Addicks to their first league victory of 2026.

Nathan Jones' side beat Sheffield United 1-0 at The Valley with Sonny Carey scoring the winning goal, thanks to a knock down from Charlton's most recent signing.

“I’m absolutely buzzing, three points which is exactly what we needed. I am just happy to come on and make an impact, I think it was a team effort," Dykes said.

The Addicks have now got eight clean sheets in the Sky Bet Championship. Dykes hailed the defence's effort after a challenging game. “The boys at the back were solid and it was a great win.

"It was a bit frustrating for them [the fans] when they have got two men sent off, and they want to attack a lot. It was difficult, and we had to break them down.

“It probably wasn’t our best performance, overall especially in the first half. There was some great teamwork from everyone and great saves in the first half that kept us in the game. We go again on Tuesday."

The Addicks return to Sky Bet Championship action on Tuesday, when they host Derby County at The Valley. Don’t miss out, get your tickets now.
