Lyndon Dykes wants to finish the season strongly and is expecting a tough test from Preston North End on Saturday (KO 3pm BST).
"I think it was a good point away to Watford, obviously they're a very good team. We were unfortunate not to get the three points which we were aiming for, but the Championship is difficult," the striker explained.
"The home game [against Bristol City] we thought we played well again. We haven’t really got many points at home recently, so we want to try and change that. We're in a good place. There are five games left to go and hopefully we can get as many points as possible.
"Sometimes we play really well and we don’t get the points on the board. We’re conceding goals that we usually wouldn’t concede. We've been playing really well as a team and as an outlet, but at the end of the day points are what you need. We just need to make sure that we finish the season strong."
Dykes earned his 50th cap for Scotland during the March international break and in doing so became only the second Charlton player to represent the Tartan Army.
"It was a massive achievement," he said. "I've been waiting for it for a long time, because I definitely should have had it before now with injuries and stuff like that. It was a really proud moment and my family was there watching. Hopefully, I can keep getting more caps and catch up to a lot of other boys who have been there for a long time. It's been a great journey."
The Scotsman scored his third goal for the Addicks on Good Friday, linking up superbly with fellow forward Charlie Kelman.
"I think when you enjoy playing it shows on the pitch and I think that's been happening," he explained. "I want to finish the season strong as a team - it doesn’t really matter if I score or not, obviously that's always added, but I want us to get as many points on the board as possible.
"We should definitely be higher in the league than what we are. There are five games to go and hopefully I can score a couple more goals or get a few assists, but I will take the three points at the end of the day."
Looking ahead to Saturday's meeting with Preston, Dykes said: "I think it's going to be a difficult game. They've got experienced players and have been in the league a long time. If we keep playing the way we are and we have a little bit more of that final cutting edge then we can definitely get the three points.
"We need to make sure that we're up for it and that we're doing the basics first and then hopefully we get a bit of quality and we get three points."
