Tayo Edun is raring to go after becoming a Charlton player on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old arrives from Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

“Really good, really positive,” said Edun on how it feels to officially be an Addick. “I'm just looking forward to getting going now.”

The 25-year-old, who was born in Islington, returns to the capital with Charlton after spending the last three-and-a-half years at Lincoln City and Blackburn. When asked about how it feels to be back home, he said: “It’s a positive, obviously being around family and just around a familiar environment."

Edun is keen to replicate the form that he showed during the 2020/21 season, helping Lincoln reach the League One play-off final.

“I racked up a lot of games and that’s where you get your confidence from," he explained. "When I got going, I felt like I could play my best football and I was really comfortable.”

He is eager to experience the Valley atmosphere after making his first and only visit to SE7 behind closed doors with Lincoln during the pandemic: “I’m looking forward to seeing the energy that the place can really have.”

He described himself as an 'aggressive, creative' player that 'works hard' and is capable of operating as a left-back, wing-back or in midfield.

Asked for his ambitions for the upcoming season, Edun said: "I'm looking forward to finding my peak again.

“Once you get going in the league anything can happen. There’s a group here that want to push on and compete for promotion,” he said. “It’s just getting the work done day-in, day-out and then things happen for you.

“I’m here to compete so just getting in and mixing with the boys as soon as possible will help me find my feet, and then obviously together we can all push on.”
