This Sunday, January 25th (KO 2pm GMT) The Addicks take on Newcastle United in a huge WSL 2 clash, marking their return to league action at The Valley.
For this fixture, Charlton Athletic proudly hosts This Girl's Ability, a non-profit organisation which champions equal access for girls and young women to enjoy sports and creative opportunities.
Based in Havering, This Girl's Ability aims to empower girls and young women aged 10-25 with additional needs and disabilities, providing their members with regular access to sports and creative activities across Charlton, Havering, Dagenham and Chelmsford.
This special collaboration between the club and non-profit dates back to November 2024, and has seen its members enjoy a selection of matchday mascot experiences, player visits and coaching sessions delivered by players including The Addick's number six, Gracie Pearse.
This Girl's Ability founder Nikki Fairbairn said: "We have been so fortunate to receive their support on so many occasions, from coaching sessions to motivating and encouraging our members during summer and half-term activities, as well as supporting our young volunteer coaches, who delivered a fun football session for the team during an international break."
"This support has such a positive impact on our girls, and it’s equally clear how much joy it brings to the players themselves.”
“It’s incredibly inspiring for our members to see the players on the pitch and to aspire to be just like them. Collaborating with Charlton Women for Sunday’s game means a great deal to us."
On Sunday, 18 members will be walking out as mascots before the match, joined by 41 family members, including mums, dads, nans, grandads, aunties, brothers, and sisters to cheer them on from the stands.
If you'd like to find out more about how you or someone you know can join This Girl's Ability, Nikki will be available in the stands at Sunday's match.
