Jones: "The crowd have been magnificent"

Nathan Jones wants his side to be more clinical and rediscover their strong home form ahead of Saturday, as they host Preston North End at The Valley (KO 3pm BST).

The gaffer gave a positive update on Conor Coady, who was admitted to hospital after the Addicks' clash with Watford at Vicarage Road on Monday.

“Yeah, [Coady] is good, he was back in at the training ground today. He has to go through the training and concussion protocols, but he is all good to be fair, he has been chirpy and all good, we are delighted with that.”

“It was more than a battling performance, [at Watford]. I have watched the game back, and we were really good in the first half. We moved the ball well and got into some really good situations, but we need to demonstrate more quality and more composure in the final third. Away from home, it was a good Championship point, he added.”

Jones also gave the latest on the team news front.

“Miles [Leaburn] trained today, and he is back in contention. Thomas Kaminski, we didn’t know what it was, he fell over and hurt his shoulder. He has had a scan, it is nothing too serious, there is a bit of inflammation there, so we just have to be patient with Thomas and when he is ready, he will be ready to come back in.”

“We have talked about the fact, that the three of the last four home games we have lost, which is unlike us.”

“The performance levels have been there. We have had enough chances to have had won all the home games, and it is disappointing."

"On the face of it, we had eight games left, five at home and three away, and we thought we could finish the season really strongly, but it hasn’t panned out that way.”

“Our home form used to be fantastic, we are used to playing well at home, the crowd have been magnificent. The crowd on Monday was outstanding; they were the most vocal. It was a fantastic away performance from them, and we want that again this weekend, we want to put it right.”

“We have been better than the points total has showed in the last four home games, and only we can change that.”

The club will host it's annual PSA testing day on Saturday.

“The research shows the earlier you can get tested and flagged up, the greater your chances are, there is a massive success rate now, the sensible thing is to promote the testing.

"Of Charlton if can help one person, then it’s a wonderful initative, but it does more than that. It is a quick test that can be potentially life-saving.”
