Jones: 'It’s a really good occasion'

Nathan Jones is expecting the toughest of tests on Saturday when his side take on Chelsea at The Valley in the third round of the FA Cup (KO 8pm GMT).

The Addicks are set to play in front of The Valley’s highest FA Cup attendance in 50 years.

"It’s one of the best cup competitions in the world," Jones said. "It's a London derby and Chelsea is a wonderful football club with a great history and great pedigree of players and an appeal. It's a totally different test and one we're looking forward to.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for the club showcase itself against a top, top side."

The gaffer marked 100 games in charge of the Addicks last weekend against Blackburn Rovers.

"In today’s day and age, to manage 100 games at any level, you've done well," the gaffer explained. "The football club is in a better place. We've had a tough time, but we've made massive strides in that time."

Jones provided an update on the fitness of Reece Burke and Miles Leaburn, who were both substituted at Ewood Park last weekend.

"Burke and Miles will both be fine, in terms of the fact that they aren’t big injuries for them. Hopefully, we're in better shape going into the weekend."
