Jones previews Sheffield United clash

Nathan Jones is expecting yet another tough Sky Bet Championship test this weekend when the Addicks host Sheffield United at The Valley (KO 3pm GMT).

The gaffer said there was plenty for the team to take away from Saturday's Emirates FA Cup clash against Chelsea.

"We turned up against an outstanding team, who are a top Premier League side, they're club world champions and they have a plethora of talent," Jones explained. "So, to contain that and go up against them, it’s very difficult and it tests you on every level.

"It was a wonderful learning curve, every time they turned the ball over, they worked really hard to get it back and that was a test for us.

"We saw The Valley rocking and how it could be and those were the positives from the day."

Amari’i Bell and Tyreece Campbell were both forced off through injury on Saturday.

"The squad is in really good shape generally," the gaffer revealed. "Amari’i's injury looked a lot worse than it was. We now have a few more options, and we've worked so hard in the last two or three months to identify players that we want to get in and over the line."

The Addicks have made two new signings this week in Harry Clarke and Lyndon Dykes.

"We're delighted with Harry and we're delighted with Lyndon because they're two real good Championship players with real good Championship experience. They're players that have played regularly at this level and they come in and significantly improve our squad to be competitive at Championship level and that's what it's about."

This weekend's clash against the Blades is the first of two consecutive home games for Jones' side.

"Sheffield United away and Derby away were two massively competitive games earlier on this season. They're two clubs that have been around the Championship for a long time, Sheffield United in the Premier League in very recent history, so it'll be a difficult set of games."
