Charlie Kelman scored twice as the Addicks drew with Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, celebrating both goals in the style of Charlton icon Clive Mendonca.
The 24-year-old has now netted four goals in his last six appearances for the club.
When asked about his celebration, he explained: āI was scrolling on TikTok this morning and I saw a Blackburn fan saying āweāve got to beat Charlton, itās only Charltonā and then in the comments there was a photo of me clipped on Cliveās head, so it felt like I had to bring his celebration out today.ā
Charlton secured a point on the road at Blackburn but felt they could have taken more from the contest.
āIām disappointed,ā Kelman said. āThe positive is that we didnāt lose and that it is another point gained but weāre disappointed as a group. We pride ourselves on clean sheets and defending and concede two goals today. The second goal if I can just keep it in the corner or win a corner but it knicks them and it goes to the keeper and they run 80 yards and score. Sometimes thatās just football. Weāre a disappointed group but weāre going to dust ourselves down and kick on.ā
After joining the club in the summer, Kelman missed seven weeks after picking up an injury in Charltonās draw with Swansea City at The Valley in November.
āNot having a pre-season was tough,ā he said. āBut I think having that injury was a blessing in disguise. It gave me that chance to work on things and I feel like myself again and I think it is reflective on the pitch. Causing problems, being strong and physical and quick. Thatās what I pride myself on, and taking chances. It felt nice and hopefully I can kick on now.ā
