On-loan academy graduate Daniel Kanu continued his fine goalscoring form on Saturday, netting his fifth goal in as many matches for Sky Bet League Two leaders Walsall.
Kanu’s thunderous effort crashed in off the crossbar inside three minutes to give the Saddlers an early lead in their 1-1 draw at home to Shrewsbury Town.
Elsewhere in the fourth tier, Kaheim Dixon started Crawley Town's 2-2 draw with Oldham Athletic at the Broadfield Stadium and Micah Mbick played the entirety of Colchester United's dramatic 4-3 defeat at Salford City.
In Sky Bet League One, Alex Mitchell was Plymouth Argyle's Player of the Match in a 1-0 victory over Rotherham United at Home Park, while Nathan Asiimwe also earned a clean sheet in AFC Wimbledon's goalless draw with Mansfield Town at Plough Lane.
Terry Taylor played the full 90 for Northampton Town, who fell to a 2-1 defeat against Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium.
U21s striker Patrick Casey marked his full debut for Dorking Wanderers with a well-taken goal but Bath City prevailed on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the FA Trophy.
Fellow U21s star Toby Bower played the entirety of Farnborough's 1-0 victory over Salisbury in the National League South.
Gassan Ahadme (Stevenage) and Ollie Hobden (Farnborough) did not feature in the matchday squads for their respective loan teams.
