MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton v Crystal Palace

mow

The wait for the new WSL 2 campaign is at last over and Charlton begin their new season at The Valley with a South London derby!

Charlton

Charlton ended their 2024/25 campaign in a respectable 3rd place, just six points behind league leaders London City Lionesses. With an extra promotion spot being added to the league this year, as well as a potential third through a playoff with the bottom placed team from the WSL, the Addicks will be hoping to make that one step further and finally reach the top-flight.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace were recently relegated from the Women’s Super League, after a difficult first season in the top level of English football. Like Charlton, they will be desperate to kick off their season with a win at The Valley this weekend, as they look to fulfil their ambitions to get back into the WSL.

Head-to-head

In their last four meetings, Charlton have won three of them, with their last win being a 1-0 win back in January 2024. It was Crystal Palace, however, who ran out victorious in the most recent derby, defeating Karen Hills’ side 2-0 last November.

The match will kick off at 14:00 BST
