Deji Elerewe is available for selection having served his four-match suspension, though Scott Fraser (calf), Tyreece Campbell (ankle), Chuks Aneke (calf) and Miles Leaburn (ankle) will miss out.

The visitors will check on the fitness of forward Ellis Harrison (calf), who has missed their last two outings, while Tom Conlon (hamstring) is a long-term absentee.

Since being condemned to a 7-0 defeat at Barnsley on the opening day, Port Vale have earned a 1-0 victory over Reading and claimed a goalless draw at Blackpool to leave them sat 13th in the Sky Bet League One table.

The Valiants finished 18th in the third tier last season, four points above the relegation zone.

Charlton and Port Vale have locked horns on 34 previous occasions with the Addicks winning 15, the Valiants nine and the remaining 10 meetings resulting in draws.

The last meeting between the two sides came at The Valley in May, when goals from Tyreece Campbell, Jes Rak-Sakyi and Leaburn earned Dean Holden's men a 3-2 triumph.

Sunny Singh Gill will be the man in the middle on Saturday, overseeing his first fixture involving Charlton.

Singh Gill will be assisted by Joseph Stokes and Marvyn Amphlett, while Damith Bandara has been appointed as the Fourth Official.
