Nathan Jones previews Bristol City clash

Nathan Jones is looking forward to returning to Sky Bet Championship action on Friday, as the Addicks host Bristol City at The Valley (KO 3pm BST).

The Addicks go into Friday's contest having taken seven points from their last four fixtures.

"Those seven points in three games were really important to where we are," explained Jones.

"I was disappointed with two of the last three home games, I felt like we should have won all three, on reflection we did enough in all three games to win them.

"We had the best chances and best opportunities in the Wrexham and Norwich home games, but we just didn't show the clinical edge and final edge of quality to win it. The overall performance was good, but I was bitterly disappointed in the results."

"At home we have been very good - sides come to us and we have taken the game to everyone. I honestly feel we should have six more points than we do," Jones added.

"I want to finish as high as possible, to be as close to our goal as possible. We are bang on track for where we want to be, and where our final destination is. I want us to win games and show that we are ultra competitive."

When asked for a squad update, Jones said: "Our squad is stronger coming out of the international break than we were going into it. Collins [Sichenje] and [Reece] Burke are the two players that are a little further off than the others."

"I don't really like international breaks really because you have to pick back up from where you were, and get into a good rhythm.

"It is important to have downtime and to get players back, and we are proud of our internationals, but it is a big disruption. We have had a normal week training this week, the Jamaican boys playing later and in Mexico is the only thing we have really had to deal with."

Meanwhile, Roy Hodgson is set to take charge of Bristol City for the first time on Friday, following the dismissal of Gerhard Struber last week.

"Again, we seem to be coming up against the final game or first game that managers have," said Jones.

"We seem to have made a habit of it this year. I have no idea what Bristol City are going to do and what shape they will be in, all I can affect is us."
