On Sunday, February 15th, Charlton Women welcome Durham to The Valley, for our latest Football v Homophobia-themed matchday, where the club champions equality and tackling discrimination in football.
This year also marks 11 years since the creation of the LGBTQI+ supporters group, the Proud Valiants and nine years since the creation of Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) Invicta FC, the club and Trust’s associated LGBTQI+ club. Both have gone from strength to strength in promoting equality and diversity in football over the years.
As part of the matchday against Durham, the club will run a range of activities promoting the event.
Activities around Sunday’s game include:
- A pre-match pitchside interview with members of Proud Valiants and CACT Invicta
- A pre-match video showing a Football v Homophobia presentation given to the Men’s, Women’s and Academy teams on the screens inside the stadium
- Our captain will be wearing a rainbow armband during the match showing support for the day
