U18 REPORT | Charlton 3 Colchester United 3

'

Charlton’s U18s played out an entertaining 3–3 draw with Colchester United’s U18s on Saturday afternoon. The young Addicks started the game strongly, but a flurry of second-half penalties for the visitors meant that the points were shared.

The young Addicks started brightly, as they opened the scoring within fifteen minutes. Ellis McMillan netted the opener for Charlton, with a lovely turn and finish away from the Colchester defence.

Colchester were level five minutes after, through Josh Adesenya.

The ball fell to Ed Thomas in the box, and the midfielder restored the advantage for the home side on 31 minutes.

Kacper Podgorny put Charlton 3-1 up before half-time with a curling shot from the left-hand side that nestled into the top right hand corner.

Charlton were in control at the break. However, the Addicks conceded 2 penalties in the second half, both of which were converted by Colchester's James Sasere.

Jason Pearce's side had to settle for a 3-3 draw, in an eventful afternoon.

The U18s are next in action on Saturday, as they take on Watford's U18s at home in the PDL (KO 11am GMT).
