Charlton to wear a special one-off commemorative strip for Portsmouth anniversary game

Charlton Athletic will wear a special one-off commemorative strip, designed by the club’s kit supplier hummel, for our Back at The Valley celebration match on December 9th against Portsmouth.

December 5th 1992 will always hold a special place in the hearts of all Charlton supporters. After a seven-year exile away from The Valley, the Addicks played their first match back at home and toasted it by beating Portsmouth 1-0.

Twenty-five years on and the club are looking forward to marking one of the most important dates in its history.

The limited edition kit is part of the 25 Years range created by Elite, who run the club shop, which also includes hoodies, jumpers and more that pay tribute the anniversary. The rest of the range will be available in the club shop next week.

The shirt will be revealed early next week before going on-sale in the club shop on Tuesday at 5pm ahead of our game against Peterborough United that evening. The shirts will then be available online the following morning.

Designed in consultation with fans, the shirt is a replica of the kit the club wore when we returned to The Valley in 1992. The limited edition shirts will come in a special presentation package.

The club’s sponsors BETDAQ, ITRM and Gaughan have given up their logo spaces on the kit to help the designers closely match the kit the club wore 25 years ago.

Tickets for the game are now available with adult prices beginning at £20. The club will be donating 25 per cent of home ticket sales from that game to Charlton Athletic Community Trust.
