PREMIER LEAGUE CUP REPORT | Charlton 0 Bristol City 1

Charlton’s U23s were dealt a blow in their bid to qualify for the Premier League Cup knockout stages after suffering a 1-0 loss against Bristol City.

Having two men sent off in the final ten minutes meant that the Addicks finished the game with only nine men, after both Dan Bowry and Jordan Zemura picked up second yellow cards.

With 30 minutes gone, a dangerous cross was helped back across goal by Connor Lemonheigh-Evans for Harvey Smith to score the only goal of the game for the visitors.

Substitute Smith’s goal for City condoned Charlton to their second consecutive loss in this year’s competition.

Monday’s loss leaves the Addicks bottom of Group G with just one point from their three games so far having previously drawn to Liverpool and lost to Stoke.

Jason Euell’s Addicks are next in action on Monday, December 18th when they host Cardiff City at Sparrows Lane.

Charlton: Beeney, Bowry (c), Yao (Zemura 46), Cummings, Blumberg, Dempsey, Sarpong-Wiredu, Carter (Gody 80), Morgan, Doughty, Willis.

Subs (not used): Osaghae, Birch.
