Bowyer on making Lyle Taylor captain: "This was his time to be rewarded and walk the team out"

Lyle Taylor led out he teams as the Addicks' skipper during Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

When asked about his decision to nominate the forward, Lee Bowyer explained why Taylor deserved to skipper the side.

"I made him captain today, because I think he deserved it for everything that he’s done for this football club in the short space of time. This was his time to be rewarded and walk the team out.

"I thought again tonight that he led from the front."

Lyle Taylor made it four goals in as many games on Wednesday when he connected with Jonathan Leko's cross to round of an exquisite passage of play from Charlton, and Bowyer was keen to praise the front man.

"Lyle’s massive, I say it every week. I see him do things in training every day. I say to him ‘you deserve everything you get’. He’s been outstanding for me from the minute that he came in through the door and nothing changes, not just his goals but his work rate."
