Bowyer: "I thought they all put a good shift in. Three points, clean sheet, it is a good day"

Lee Bowyer was pleased with the effort his players gave in the Addicks' 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers.

Charlton moved back in to a play-off position with the win and Bowyer was also happy to see his side keep a clean sheet despite a variety of injuries and suspensions in defence.

Speaking to Scott Minto on Valley Pass Live he said: “I thought we were good from start to finish. I thought we were very professional and looked solid. Everyone put a good shift in. I think it was a very good away performance. Being ultra-picky we should have scored more but I thought every player, whether they started or came off the bench, I thought they all put a good shift in. Three points, clean sheet, it is a good day.

“I’m really happy [to keep a clean sheet], Deji [Oshilaja] at the end there put his body on the line and dived in front of a shot, those small details are the difference between winning games and not – you need your players to do that. The whole back four I thought were solid and very strong. I thought Albie [Morgan] and Jake [Forster-Caskey] in front of them worked very hard and were brave at times and got on the ball. For a makeshift back four I thought they did really well.”

The Charlton Manager praised Oshilaja and Forster-Caskey for their individual performances.

He said: “Fair play to Deji, he’s not played many minutes and he’s been out injured and has had to wait his time, today he came in and was excellent – on the ball, off the ball, looked very physical and strong in the air, didn’t get rolled or turned, I thought it was a very good performance from Deji.

“Jake is getting better and better. I’ve been singing his praises, I did on Tuesday and I’m doing the same again today. He’s doing really well, he is driving us in the middle of the park, so I’m really pleased for him and Deji.”
